Officiating

General Philosophy

SRG leagues are built around hard, respectful racing. The goal of officiating is to protect clean racing, encourage improvement, and address behavior that repeatedly harms other members' races.

1.1SRG wants racers to race.
1.2Not every incident will result in a penalty. Some incidents will be considered just racing.
1.3Officials will look first at whether an incident was egregious, whether a review was requested, and whether a driver is showing a repeated pattern of avoidable incidents.
1.4The focus of officiating is not punishment for every mistake. The focus is maintaining a fun, respectful, and reasonably clean racing environment.
1.5Drivers are expected to know the league's on-track conduct guidelines and make reasonable, respectful decisions when racing others.

Review Process

2.1Officials will review all races in replay after the event.
2.2Not every contact or mistake will result in action. Small or isolated incidents may be recorded as just racing.
2.3A review is more likely to result in action if:
  • the incident is egregious
  • a driver requests review
  • the incident causes significant harm
  • a driver shows a repeated pattern of similar conduct
2.4In reviewing an incident, officials may consider:
  • what happened
  • what each driver saw or could reasonably be expected to see
  • the point in the sequence where the incident first became avoidable
  • whether there were unusual circumstances such as weather, visibility, or rejoining
  • the severity of the outcome
  • whether this was an isolated mistake or part of a larger pattern
  • whether prior coaching or penalties are already in play
2.5If asked for an account of an incident, drivers should respond promptly and concisely.

Privacy & Communication

3.1A driver's disciplinary standing will not be publicly disclosed by league admins.
3.2Admins do not want drivers publicly singled out or put on display for disciplinary matters.
3.3In some cases, incidents may be discussed publicly for educational purposes if no formal discipline beyond a conversation or coaching moment was issued.
3.4Admins reserve the right to adjust officiating standards and penalty systems. The default is to make major changes between seasons whenever possible.

Rookie League

6.1Rookie league does not use the same season-long consequence table.
6.2Rookie is intended to be a place to learn, improve, and race without excessive fear of formal punishment.
6.3Damage is off and Rookie is not a points championship, so the emphasis is on coaching and development.
6.4That said, repeated over-driving, repeated avoidable incidents, or egregious behavior will still be addressed.
6.5Drivers may be coached, held back from promotion, or subject to further action if those issues are not corrected.

Final Notes

7.1SRG wants fun, competitive racing in a respectful environment.
7.2Drivers are encouraged to race hard, but also to race with awareness, judgment, and respect for the people around them.
7.3This system is expected to evolve over time, and member feedback is welcome at the end of each season.
Team Racing

Endurance

Multi-driver endurance racing on iRacing. Lap count over lap time — consistency and clean driving wins more races than pure pace.

Team Culture

Have fun and respect your teammates.

  • No berating, blaming, or disrespect
  • Accidents happen — reckless over-driving is not acceptable

Race Philosophy

Lap count over lap time.

  • Consistency and control matter more than raw pace
  • Endurance results come from minimizing mistakes
  • It is always OK to let faster cars pass

Driving Standards

Race within your limits.

  • Dial back ultimate speed to ensure control and low incident counts
  • Make high-percentage passes — if in doubt, wait for a better opportunity
  • Your team is punished for your incidents

Team Commitment

Reliability and communication are critical.

  • Be present and responsive in Discord at registration time
  • If you commit, you are expected to show up
  • No-shows risk team disqualification and IR penalties
  • Communicate early if you need to step back
